Art Deco (1920-1930s) is a style of decorative arts which first emerged in France, characterised by its geometric style. Successor to Art Nouveau, a key differentiator is the influence of cubism associated with iconic artists like Pablo Picasso. Deco influenced architectural design, such as the Chrysler Building in New York, furniture, jewellery, fashion, cars and even domestic objects such as vacuum cleaners.

Egyptian revival during the Art Deco period ensured that snakes were used in many art forms. Hostorically sneks represent fertility or a creative life force.
