Art Nouveau English glass and silver decanter by Stevens and Williams in the Fibrilose pattern. The clear glass is decorated with applied green glass trails and the applied handle is made of clear glass. The silver collar is by Hukin and Heath Birmingham 1900-1901. Registered design number to underside 36652. A beautiful example of Victorian design and craft. English c 1900-1901 Excellent original condition. History

Stevens & Williams, established in 1847 in Stourbridge, England, was a premier British glassmaker known for high-quality, artistic coloured, engraved, and cameo glass before becoming famous as Royal Brierley Crystal. With roots extending back to 1776, the company became a leader in Art Glass in the late Victorian era

Art Nouveau was an international art and architecture style that flourished from the 1880s to World War I, aiming to unify the fine and applied arts into a “total work of art”. Inspired by the natural world, it is defined by organic forms, flowing lines, and decorative elements, and it emerged as a response to industrialization. It was known by different names across Europe, such as Jugendstil in Germany and Modernismo in Spain.
