I worked with RDF television on several series of Dickinson’s Real Deal and travelled all over the UK with the series meeting some really interesting people and trying to buy items ranging from original Dr Who Artwork to art deco handbags and everything in between. It was great fun but extremely hard work as filming takes place from 8 am till usually 5 or 6 pm and sometimes even later. It all depended on how many people came through the door and the items they had brought with them. It certainly broadened my knowledge of antiques. The support and skill of the behind the scenes teams was exceptional. The professionalism and knowledge of David Dickinson is amazing and he is a very hard worker.
I also featured on a BBC programme Car Booty where a family were downsizing and selling off their antiques. I was there to try and buy some Antique Silver items
I have also worked in the past with the BBC on various Antiques programmes and provided antique items for the ‘Antiques Mastermind’ Series on BBC2. I am regularly consulted for advice by Antiques programmes and am always happy to help whenever I can. Most recently I was asked by the BBC2 programme The Repair Shop for advice on some very badly damaged Art Deco figures.
My antiques have also featured in articles in major newspapers and magazines including The Times, The Yorkshire Post, Period Living, Antiques Explorer, Country Life, Antiques magazine to name but a few. I was recently featured in The Antiques Trade Gazette Dealers Diary 5 questions where a dealer answers 5 questions about themselves and their business.
Several of my items have also been featured in reference books. I haven’t written any books yet as I am too busy but you never know!
