A pair of Art Nouveau Peacock trail vases in Green and clear by Stuart and Sons of Stourbridge. Unusual to have them in such a small size. They would have been retailed through Liberty. Beautiful organic form so typical of the period. Excellent original condition and so good to have a pair.

History

Art Nouveau was an international art and architecture style that flourished from the 1880s to World War I, aiming to unify the fine and applied arts into a “total work of art”. Inspired by the natural world, it is defined by organic forms, flowing lines, and decorative elements, and it emerged as a response to industrialization. It was known by different names across Europe, such as Jugendstil in Germany and Modernismo in Spain.
